Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Bodhi Tree is a sacred fig tree in India, traditionally associated with the Buddha’s enlightenment.
I’ve spent a lot of time in India and have visited the Bodhi tree myself, so the name has a personal connection for me. But, I also like what it represents; taking time to stop, think and gain perspective.
Therapy is not about being told what to do or being “fixed”. It’s about creating a space to reflect and to learn to understand yourself a bit better.
-
I work from a private therapy room in Elham, Kent. The exact location is shared once we confirm an in-person session. I also provide online therapy for clients across the UK and Worldwide.
-
You can contact me by email, phone (call/text/Whatsapp) or using the Contact form on this website.
Then, we’ll start with a free 10-minute phone call (Initial Consultation) to talk briefly about what you’re looking for and whether it feels like a good fit. If it does, we can arrange a complimentary 50-minute Introductory Session to go into things in more depth and decide together whether to continue.
There is no pressure to commit.
-
The introductory session is a chance to talk in more depth about what’s brought you to therapy and what you’d like support with. You don’t need to prepare anything.
-
It depends on what you need. Some people come for a short period of focused work. Others come longer-term. We review things as we go so it stays useful.
-
For most people, sessions are once a week at the same time each week.
If you are looking for something different, this can be discussed during our Initial Consultation or during the Introductory Session.
-
Yes, everything you share is confidential. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if I am required to share information by law. If this ever came up, I would try to discuss it with you first. We will discuss this further during our Introductory Session.
-
I will provide bank details for payment after the Introductory Session. Cash is also accepted.
-
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, the full session fee is usually payable, except in exceptional circumstances. This is because the time is reserved specifically for you. If you need to rearrange, please let me know as soon as possible.
-
Yes, you can stop at any time. If possible, we would usually have a final session to bring things to a proper close.
-
Not yet, but I will be launching a men’s group soon. This will be a small, in-person group for men in the Folkestone and Canterbury areas, offering a space to talk openly and hear from others in a similar position.
It will not be a workshop or a course but just a steady, facilitated space where men can speak honestly, listen, and make sense of what’s going on together.
If you’d like to be notified when it starts, you’re welcome to get in touch.
-
Yes. I work with neurodivergent children and adults, including people who are autistic, have ADHD, are dyslexic or dyspraxic, as well as people with learning disabilities and language or communication differences.
I recognise that people use different language to describe themselves, and I’m always happy to follow the language and terminology that feels right for you.
-
This service is for people who require income support or may have difficulty paying for therapy. If you think this is relevant to you, please bring it to my attention during the initial consultation to discuss options.
-
You’re welcome to contact me between sessions about practical things, such as arranging, changing or cancelling an appointment, but I’m not able to provide therapy or ongoing support by phone, text or email outside of our agreed sessions.
It may also be possible to arrange additional sessions if you feel you need some extra support. Please speak to me directly and we can discuss what is available.
If you need urgent support between sessions, please use the appropriate crisis or NHS services listed below.
